Laminitis Therapy
Laminitis is a very difficult disease to treat. However, there are steps that can be taken to make your horse more comfortable using specialized therapies. Our veterinarians use venograms, when indicated, to help determine a prognosis and on-site digital radiography to guide your farrier in trimming the feet most effectively. The veterinarian and farrier work together to apply Redden Ultimates or Steward Clogs – therapeutic shoes that decrease the mechanical stress on damaged hoof structures. Your veterinarian will also work to identify and manage the underlying causes of your horse’s laminitis, such as Cushing’s disease or Equine Metabolic Syndrome, and make nutritional recommendations.
